It has a million uses, as we've discovered after living with our test cans for a little while, including as a really handy and effective travel hand cleanser for picnics, long journeys and suchlike.
Not only is Lavender Essence fantastic for refreshing woollens, and for spritzing ironing and upholstery, it's also turned out to be a really effective hard surface cleaner, too! It degreases and wipes away even ingrained muck quite effortlessly - and because lavender is known to be naturally antiseptic, antifungal, antiviral and antibiotic, it's the ideal choice to cleanse and freshen the kitchen, bathroom, sick-room, and (especially!) the nursery. You can even use it to spray cuts and grazes in an emergency - and as we've discovered, it makes an effective chemical and aluminium-free underarm deodorant, too. Cold on a chilly morning, though!

The certified organic lavender hydrolat used to make this product is distilled using natural springwater in the field where the flowers are grown. The process used is the gentlest, most painstaking form of distillation, with the emphasis always on quality rather than cost. Conventional ‘steam’ distillation is a rapid, quite vicious process which destroys many of the more subtle notes in both the floral water and the essential oil, and additionally ‘explodes’ the cells of the plant material, resulting in a high level of cellulose in the water. This can then lead to bacterial and fungal activity – in a product which when properly made is itself an anti-bacterial and antifungal agent! And this, of course, can further spoil the scent and deodorising properties. The painstaking efforts of our supplier ensure that there is no higher quality lavender hydrolat available anywhere in the world.
